Dentistry can be a complicated subject, especially when you’re seeing a specialist. As a result, we get many questions at our dental office that we want all of our patients, current or prospective, to have the facts on. Below, you’ll find a few of the most common questions we get at the dental office as well as our detailed answers. We hope that you find them informative before you arrive. If your question is not listed, don’t hesitate to give our dental office a call!
Absolutely! In fact, every time Dr. Uchil and Dr. Girskis have a complex case, it’s usually because it was referred to us by a neighborhood dentist who cannot take on the case by themselves. We gladly welcome complex cases and do everything we can to address them as comprehensively and effectively as possible. It doesn’t matter if you need to replace your entire smile with dental implants and a complicated denture prosthesis, we’re here to get it done.
Prosthodontists focus specifically on oral and facial conditions that involve restoring missing teeth and jaw structures. Dr. Uchil and Dr. Girskis have combined knowledge of many restorative dental treatments, including cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), Invisalign and other treatments. They are the professionals that dentists send patients to when general dentistry isn’t enough to resolve your issue.
Prosthodontists rely on a number of dental technologies in order to provide the best treatment outcomes possible. This includes intraoral cameras, digital impression systems, and digital X-rays to capture detailed images of your many oral structures. When it comes to preventive dentistry, we use a cavity detection system to catch the early signs of tooth decay and treat them before they turn into a serious oral health problem.
Definitely. While our dental office can design a natural dental crown to restore your tooth’s functions, we can just as easily focus on the cosmetic imperfections in your smile as well. Through porcelain veneers, Lumineers, direct bonding, in-office, and take-home whitening and more, we can give your smile a major boost. We even show you what your smile will look like after you’ve completed your treatment with our digital imaging/virtual smile design software!
While our dental office performs basic cleanings, checkups and fluoride treatments as a preventive measure, we also offer nightguards specifically designed to mitigate the effects of bruxism. Without protection, bruxism can easily wear down your tooth enamel, cause chronic jaw pain, and leave your smile misaligned or even crack a tooth due to the constant clenching and grinding of your teeth.
Dental anxiety and fear are more common than you’d think, which is why we’re happy to offer nitrous oxide sedation for those who suffer from mild to moderate levels of anxiety while at the dentist. This sedative is fast-acting and can be controlled by our dentists on the fly during treatment. You’ll be incredibly relaxed but still awake during treatment, allowing you to communicate with us as needed. After treatment is complete, we can remove the sedative immediately and you can continue your day without interruptions.
Our dental office makes sure to use dental restorations that are designed to not just restore your smile’s functions, but look incredibly natural. It is critical for our dental office to use ceramics that blend in naturally with your existing tooth enamel, not stick out like a sore thumb.
